Sulphosate is the the trimethylsulphonium salt of glyphosate, the most successful, post-emergent systemic broad spectrum herbicide for control of annual and perennial weeds. The sulphosate salt is synthesized by reacting glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine) with the sulphonium salt derived from Dimethyl Sulfide.
